Cristina Freyre and Jeffrey David Batt met as juniors at Hamilton College. Jeff proposed in their favorite park along the Potomac River overlooking Mount Vernon. The couple was married at St. Michael the Archangel Church. A reception followed at the Tomes-Higgins House in Greenwich, where the Freyre family celebrated their Cuban heritage by singing Guantanamera as they do at every family wedding. Jeff and his brother Matt, who was his best man, added their voices to the chorus of fifty family members.

Cristina, the daughter of Nancy and Eneas Freyre of Greenwich,  earned a bachelor’s degree in public policy at Hamilton. She works as a legislative assistant in the U.S. House of Representatives for New York Congressman Eliot L. Engel. Jeff, the son of Michelle and Paul Batt of Amherst, New York, earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Hamilton. He is a full-time student at Georgetown University Law School, from which he will graduate this spring. The newlyweds honeymooned in Napa and Sonoma counties in California. They live in Washington, D.C.



leksandra D. Shéliga-Markovsky Janke met John McClure Erickson at an engagement party thrown by John for mutual friends at his parents’ home in Southbury, Connecticut. The fortuitous encounter resulted in their nuptials almost four years to the day at the very same site. The Very Reverend Andrei Sommer of the Russian Orthodox Church, Synods of Bishops, performed the ceremony at the Erickson home, Paradise Hill.

The bride, daughter of Eugénia and David Janke of Greenwich, graduated from Loomis Chaffee School and Middlebury College. She received a master’s in International Affairs from Columbia University and is currently the director of External Affairs and Development at Transatlantic Partners Against AIDS, an international nonprofit organization focusing on HIV/AIDS advocacy initiatives in Russia, the Ukraine and neighboring countries. Her father is executive director at Oppenheimer & Co. and president of the Navy Seal Warrior Fund. Her mother, a 2002 Ellis Island Medal of Honor recipient, sits on the board of directors of the Tolstoy Foundation.

The groom, known as Jay, the son of Karen and John Erickson, graduated from St. Paul’s School and Princeton University. He is a cofounder of Bootstrap Software and SoniByte. Jay is also a member of the New York–based Americana band Red Rooster. His father is a retired partner of the New York law firm White & Case and is the director of Yorkville Common Pantry in New York and the Southbury Land Trust in Connecticut. The groom’s mother is a writer.

Following the service, there was dinner and dancing under a tent followed by a bonfire and performance by Jay’s band. The couple resides in New York and Pawling.




Katherine Elizabeth Crowley, daughter of Carol and the late John S. Crowley of Greenwich, married Clifton Hundley Eddens, son of Barbara and Fletcher C. Eddens of Wilmington, North Carolina, at the First Church of Round Hill. The Reverend Robert Walker officiated.

A reception followed at the Belle Haven Club and featured live music performed by Mike Carney and Clif Edden’s band, Off the Chart. The couple met at a party in Greenwich Village and shared a slice of pizza afterwards. They lost contact for a year before reuniting at a chance meeting in the city. On the one-year anniversary of their second date, Clif proposed in Vermont.

Katherine is a New York Times bestselling author of Working with You Is Killing Me: Freeing Yourself from Emotional Traps at Work. She is also a psychotherapist, business consultant and co-owner of K Squared Enterprises. She graduated from the Convent of the Sacred Heart in Greenwich, Duke University and Harvard University with a master’s degree in education.

Clif graduated from Wilmington High School and the University of North Carolina. He is a hospital administrator at the New York Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center.

The New Jersey newlyweds honeymooned in Ontario, Canada.




An early-morning Christmas proposal in a tuxedo and a Santa hat led to the Cape Cod wedding of Jennifer Dawn Malaquias and Andrew London Ryan, son of Greenwich resident Jane W. Ryan and the late Philip J. Ryan Jr. The bride was given in marriage by her parents Dr. and Mrs. Stephen W. Malaquias of Dennis, Massachusetts. The ceremony was held at the Immaculate Conception Chapel, and a reception followed at the Mansion of the Ocean Edge Resort and Golf Club.

The bride, a graduate of Falmouth Academy and Denison University, holds a master’s degree in corporate communications from New York University. She is a human resources and office manager for Financo, Inc. of New York. The bridegroom graduated from Greenwich High School and Denison University. He is vice president of Venture Services for Jefferies and Co., Inc. of New York.

Mr. and Mrs. Ryan honeymooned on the Society Islands of Moorea and Bora Bora in the South Pacific. They reside in New York City.




Kathryn Beatrice Rampellini and Keith Patrick Abel were married at the Watch Hill Chapel in Watch Hill, Rhode Island, by the Reverend David Blanchfield of Norwalk, a cousin of the bride’s mother. The couple boarded the Viking Yacht Onlake II in Watch Hill harbor and motored to the Mystic River Yacht Club for the reception.

Kate, as the bride is known, is the daughter of Lawrence Rampellini and Alicia Blanchfield Rampellini of Stonington, Connecticut. She attended Pine Point School, the Williams School and Salve Regina University. Keith graduated from Greenwich High School and Western Maryland College. His parents are former Greenwich residents Rudolph Abel of Siesta Key, Florida, and Diane Abel Featherston of Wilmington, North Carolina.

The yacht-crossed couple met at the Stamford Yacht Club, where Keith had taken a position after being landlocked as a foreign exchange currency trader for several years. Keith is the director of Yacht Sales for Bassett Boat Company in Mystic, Westbrook and Greenwich. Kate is the business manager of Steamboat Wharf Inn and Companies in Mystic.

A honeymoon followed in Block Island and Costa Rica. The couple resides in Stonington.




Galena Lodge, a rustic and historic ski center in Ketchum, Idaho, was the setting for the marriage of Mary Tess O’Sullivan, daughter of Anita and Jeff O’Sullivan of Greenwich, to Jeremy Robert Fryberger, son of Carol and Jeremy Fryberger of Duluth, Minnesota. The couple first officially met at a Sun Valley telemark ski race, but had seen each other previously at cross-country ski racing events and played on the same coed ice hockey team.

Sarah Sentilles, a doctoral candidate at Harvard Divinity School and college classmate of the bride, officiated. The planned outdoor ceremony quickly moved indoors when the weather took a turn for the worse. The bride surprised family and friends by singing “Give Yourself to Love” during the service.

The bride graduated from Greenwich High School and Yale College. She has a master’s degree from the University of Vermont in Ecological Planning and works as the program manager for Science and Conservation at Lava Lake Land and Livestock in Hailey, Idaho. The groom is a graduate of Middlebury College and has a master of architecture degree from the University of Colorado. His company, Jeremy Fryberger Design P.A., is in Ketchum.

The newlyweds honeymooned in Spain and live in Hailey, Idaho, where they train for, and compete in, amateur cross-country skiing marathons.




There might not have been a fire, but there surely was a spark and a flame when the chief of the Sound Beach Volunteer Fire Department Alan Jeffrey Yantorno met Karine Elizabeth Stewart during training. The couple was married at the Stamford Museum and Nature Center in the Bendel Mansion Museum, with Greenwich Selectman Penny Monahan officiating.

The bride, a graduate of Greenwich High School and the John Jay College of Criminal Justice, is the daughter of Julie Stewart of Cos Cob and Scott Stewart of Greenwich. She is a special agent with the Department of Homeland Security in New York City. The bridegroom, the son of Margaret and Frank Yantorno of Riverside, is also a graduate of Greenwich High School and Norwalk Community College. He is an electrical mechanic and foreman for R. M. Harris Electric.

The Stamford newlyweds honeymooned in Athens, Mykonos and Santorini.
