Amy Elizabeth O’Reilly and Joseph Anthony Rizzi Jr. spent summer weekends in the Hamptons biking and going for long walks on the beach. In September of 2006, Jay suggested one final trip while the weather was still warm, and it was on the beach that Jay popped the question.
The Reverend Monsignor Alan F. Detscher at St. Catherine of Siena Church performed the ceremony, and a late afternoon reception followed at Riverside Yacht Club. Music featured prominently in the ceremony and reception, with several family members and friends making harmony for the couple. The bride’s uncle Mickey Dalton served as cantor. He and the bride’s sister and maid of honor Laura O’Reilly sang a duet, “The Gift of Love.” Greenwich Academy graduates and former Madrigal singers Laura O’Reilly, Meredith DiMenna Saunders and Kelly Maye Galvin sang “The Irish Blessing.” The serenading continued at the reception with a special performance of “Dream a Little Dream of Me,” by Meredith DiMenna Saunders.
The bride, daughter of Mary Beth and Knowlton O’Reilly of Riverside, graduated from Greenwich Academy, Brown University
and Columbia University, with a master’s degree in business. She is the Deputy Chief Development Officer for Leadership Gifts at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The groom, son of Susan and Joseph Rizzi of Park Ridge, New Jersey, is a graduate of Bergen Catholic High School, Babson College and Fordham University, with a master’s degree in business. He is the vice president of institutional sales at Wall Street Access.
Following in both sets of parents’ footsteps, the Fort Lee, New Jersey, couple honeymooned in Bermuda.
