Almquist-Yardis
When baseball player Mike Yardis met cheerleader Annie Almquist at Greenwich High School, he knew he’d hit a home run. The two dated their sophomore year, but lost track of each other. Ten years later, the two bumped into each other in Stamford only to discover they were living several blocks apart. With the engagement ring burning a hole in his sock drawer, Mike proposed over ice cream after asking Annie’s father for her hand. With the groom’s christening bonnet being used as the bride’s handkerchief, the Reverend Roger White married the couple at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Kent, Connecticut. A reception followed at the Marvelwood School in Kent.

The bride is the daughter of David Almquist of Sharon, Connecticut, and Jeanette Pickens of Riverside. She is the stepdaughter of Katherine Almquist and James Pickens. A graduate of Greenwich High School and Ohio Wesleyan University, Annie teaches first grade at East Elementary School in New Canaan and works at Threads and Treads, which is owned by her father-in-law.

The groom is the son of Mickey Yardis and Teresa Yardis of Greenwich, and the stepson of Peggy Yardis.
A graduate of Greenwich High School and the University of Rhode Island, Mike is the owner of Yardis Sports Training and works at Threads and Treads.

Following a honeymoon in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, the couple live in Riverside.
