Check out these great summer fashions and family styles
Freshest look to hit the Avenue this summer: the breezy, colorful tunics, kurtas and resort-inspired pieces at Roberta Roller Rabbit. This whimsical new boutique carries a line for women, men and children that’s an offshoot of Roberta Freymann’s namesake label, inspired by the fable of a magical rabbit that she found on a piece of fabric in India. Made by artisans in India, the pieces feature graphic and floral designs named after characters in Roberta’s life. Her long kurtas work perfectly as beach cover-ups or nightgowns, while the shorter ones may be the ultimate topper for white jeans. The distinctive patterns also extend to a home and bedding line with tablecloths, napkins, pillows, duvet covers and more, as well as accessories, such as hats, shopping totes, beach towels, scarves and sarongs. 103 Greenwich Avenue; robertarollerrabbit.com
There aren’t many places where you can stock up on back-to-school clothes, buy kid gifts, and pick up cool jeans and shoes for yourself while you’re at it. But Lester’s new 11,000- square-foot store has become one-stop shopping for families. The department store anchors a corner of the Rye Ridge Plaza and accommodates an expanded women’s and junior’s department. “With a new space comes lots of new ideas,” says Andrea Forbes, store manager. “Our plan is to take women’s and junior’s to the next level.” That includes the addition of key lines like Vince along with brands already in store, such as Joie, Current/Elliott and JBrand. A new layette, infant-toddler section is in the works.
The center of the store caters to the teen and tween set with on-trend clothing as well as pillows, pjs, games, jewelry and other accessories. Especially hot right now is the photoreal trend, where images are screened onto t-shirts, socks and headbands. What else will be big for fall? Expect to see plaids and leathers, pieces with lots of zippers, embellished sweats, chunky sweaters, cable knits and lots of fur trims. The cropped sweater over white tailored shirt look is back as are combat boots and Aztec prints. There’s plenty for boys with a huge selection of Nike Elite and Under Armour, and the kids’ shoe section dominates the far right side of the store. 18 Rye Ridge Plaza, Rye Brook; lesters.com
