Love Actually

Great and unique ways to show your honey that she, or he, is still the one

Old-Fashioned Fun

Grab your skates and a $15 off peak train ticket to Grand Central and hike the few short blocks to the Winter Village at Bryant Park. The ice rink is open until March 2 and admission is free. Take your sweetie for a spin around the rink under the romantic twinkle of city lights. Warm up with a snowjito or an apple cider margarita at the all glass pop-up restaurant Celsius. The lounges on both the first and second floors have gorgeous views of the ice rink, no reservations needed (or taken). Cocktails are around $13 each; throw in some spiced nuts for $7 and you’ve got a romantic night à deux for under $70. You’re welcome.

In Our Backyard

The Lodge at Woodloch is a world-class destination spa that’s a quick two-hour drive from Greenwich. Your own slice of secluded paradise is tucked into 150 wooded acres in the northern corner of the Pocono Mountains. With only fifty-seven guest rooms, you’ll feel like you are lord of your own country estate. The spa spans 40,000 square feet and features treatments that include herbal wraps, using ingredients grown on the resort’s farm, to a microbrew pedicure. The lodge has been recognized as one of the world’s best by Condé Nast and Travel and Leisure. Who knew it was right around the corner?

She Will!

An American Express survey revealed that 30 percent of those considering getting engaged planned to do it on vacation—now dubbed “engagementcations.” It is estimated that 10 percent of all wedding proposals happen over Valentine’s Day. Guys considering popping the question this V Day should take a cue from Greenwich native James Waters, who proposed to his bride on vacation in Maine (though not on Valentine’s Day). He took her out to the dock and told her how much he loved her and wanted to spend his life with her. To her surprise, he then offered her his Navy Trident pin, which he then fumbled and dropped in the water. Worst engagement story ever? Nope. He swam to the depths where he had previously hidden a stunning sparkler and emerged from the water with the best story ever. He went on to be a Navy SEAL so we don’t recommend trying this at home.

Sparkle & Shine

We all know diamonds are a girl’s best friend, but who knew they had the power to make you look younger too? At the über luxe Hotel St. Barth Isle de France you can enjoy a diamond (yes, we mean, diamonds) dust-infused mud wrap. In addition to feeling like Cleopatra, this treatment promises to eliminate the effects of electromagnetic pollution and stress caused by daily life while combatting the signs of aging.
