special advertising section

Greenwich Town Party proudly announces the inaugural GTP Rocks the Avenue!, an extension event of this year’s Greenwich Town Party. Free to the public, GTP Organizers hope to bring more individuals and families together to celebrate community spirit and mutual generosity. GTP Rocks the Avenue! will take place on Saturday, May 25th in the Board of Education parking lot at Greenwich Common from noon to 6:00 pm.

GTP Rocks the Avenue! will feature its own incredible array of food, complimentary family fun, and live music, performed throughout the afternoon by local bands including Front Row, Adjusting to Life, PINTO&MIRTS, The Skunk Rockets, Mongolian Monkfish, and Bonehedz.

“We are delighted that the Greenwich Town Party is expanding to Greenwich Avenue this year,” says Scott Mitchell of Richards of Greenwich, a gracious supporter of the event as a sponsor of the Rocks the Ave! Stage. “Not only will it help to accommodate more people for this incredible celebration of community, but it also will be a fantastic opportunity for the retailers on Greenwich Avenue to join in the festivities.”

Families take note, from noon to 5:00 pm there will be lots of children’s activities at GTP Rocks the Avenue!  at no charge to attendees, including face painting, strolling magicians, a stilt walker, balloon twist artists, and a spin art station. Cool toys will be available to test at the Try Out Toys booth from 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm, and free pictures can be taken in the Flash Photo Booth provided by Webster Bank from 2:30 pm to 6:00 pm. Attendees can visit a variety of stands that will serve free lemonade, cotton candy, popcorn, and sno-cones. To round out the festivities, delicious food and beverages will be available for purchase from local vendors, including Bobby Q’s Pit Stop, El Charrito Mexican Food Truck, Melt Mobile, The Original Good Humor Truck, and Wendy’s Weenies.

The Greenwich Town Party event organizers’ objective for launching GTP Rocks the Avenue! this year is to expand on the concept of the event at Roger Sherman Baldwin Park and accommodate more Greenwich individuals and families. Attendees are encouraged to bring a chair or a blanket, relax, and enjoy an afternoon of live music, food, beverages, children’s activities, and a community celebration. The free Avenue event is also an option, and boaters can watch the event on a harborside screen. A live broadcast on WGCH Radio is in the works!

Those who would like to attend the main event at Roger Sherman Baldwin Park may still purchase ‘Fair Share’ tickets that include admission, part-donation, and a GTP merchandise package. Greenwich Town Party Fair Share tickets are $400 each and are representative of the cost to produce the Greenwich Town Party. Please visit the Greenwich Town Party Website, www.greenwichtownparty.com to purchase Fair Share tickets or visit the Greenwich Town Party desk at Town Hall, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10:00 am – 2:00 pm. Tickets are not required for the GTP Rocks the Avenue! event.

Sponsored by the Greenwich Town Party, Inc., a non-profit organization qualifying as a public charity under section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code, the event is a volunteer-supported community event. The Greenwich Town Party was created to bring the people of the Town of Greenwich together to organize and plan a town-wide event and to celebrate their community pride and mutual generosity.
