Every once in a while, Thanksgiving cooking takes a backseat to real life. Perhaps you aren’t traveling this year or your family isn’t coming to you. Maybe the whole family is ready to just sit in the tryptophan-induced haze and enjoy each other’s company without worrying about cleaning up. Or maybe your inner foodie would just like to check out one of these fabulous spots to experience their take on this classic meal. Whatever your reason, we have a cornucopia of great alternatives to cooking your own bird.

The Farmhouse at Bedford Post Inn

They will be serving dinner in The Farmhouse, their more formal fine dining restaurant. The menu features seasonal ingredients and some classics with a twist, for example the turkey offering (one of three choices on the 4-course menu) is served with soghum and black garlic glaze, shiitake gravy and sweet potato. Dessert choices include an apple pie sundae served with maple gelato and pecan crumble. Serving from 2-8 pm, prix-fixe menu $90 per person ($45 for children). Groups of 10-14 can book the chef’s table, a private room just off the kitchen, by contacting the events manager. Tables of 8 or fewer can be accommodated in the restaurant proper.

Thomas Henkelmann at the Homestead Inn

Those needing a more flexible timeframe may want to go to Thomas Henkelmann, they will have four seatings on Thanksgiving Day, 11:45am, 2:30pm, 5 pm, 7:30pm. The special 3-course menu for the day will be $75 per person and includes a traditional option, turkey with chestnut-apple dressing, string beans, candied yams and cranberries in addition to a beef tenderloin, grilled salmon, and sautéed halibut. Desserts include pumpkin pie, pecan tart and chocolate mousse.

L’Escale at the Delamar Hotel

If you’d like to enjoy your turkey day by the waterside, head down to the Delamar hotel’s restaurant. Though they haven’t finalized their new menu just yet (it will be set by the first week of November if you’d like to call), L’Escale will serve Thanksgiving dinner from noon until 7 pm. The three-course menu is $70 per person ($25 for children).

500 Steamboat Road, Greenwich

Eleven14 Kitchen at J House

The bustling restaurant at J House will be serving up their Thanksgiving buffet from noon until 7pm for the third year running. The main course offerings from Chef Kwaku-Dongo will be roasted herb rubbed turkey with carmelized onion and cornbread stuffing in addition to roasted smoked pork loin and striped bass and seafood casserole. There will also be several desserts to choose from, including pumpkin, apple or pecan pie, and chocolate layer cake. But with a buffet, and no need to do the dishes afterwards, why not try them all?
