New Spaces and Places

Getting a good haircut doesn’t have to be a chore. That’s the thinking behind the new kennedy’s all-american barber club, where guys can relax and enjoy a complimentary cappuccino or a glass of wine or whiskey before sitting down for a trim. “This is what barbershops used to be: a place to socialize,” says Keith Ronan, Kennedy’s regional operations manager (there are also locations in Westport, Darien, Stamford and Ridgefield). Businessmen can make connections while they’re prepping for an important meeting and kick back in a space that’s more sophisticated than the average barbershop, with a handsome wood interior, bar and flatscreen TV.
Guys can treat themselves to a straight razor shave—an old-fashioned service that’s something of a lost art—which includes hot towels, warm lather and steam or other services like sports manicures and massages. For men who want to cover their gray, there’s a private room for hair coloring on the sly. Walk-ins are welcome but for the best pricing and benefits, men can get unlimited haircuts and monthly shaves by purchasing a membership (starting at $65 a month). Kennedy’s also hosts frequent wine tastings with the proceeds from wine purchases going to the Achilles Foundation for disabled athletes. 116 East Putnam Avenue, 203-769-5729; kennedysbarberclub.com
