Mianus River Gorge

Farm-to-Table Dinner

In celebration of the Mianus River Gorge’s sixtieth anniversary, the Board of Trustees hosted a farm-to-table dinner at the acclaimed Blue Hill at Stone Barns in Pocantico Hills, New York. The evening raised almost $70,000 for the gorge. Guests of honor were Ann Rockefeller Roberts and Jean Paul and Carol Ann Valles. The evening commemorated six decades of extraordinary achievement that began in 1953 when a group of citizens discovered a wild and free river running through the Mianus River Valley. With development threatening to destroy this resource, they formed the Mianus River Gorge Conservation Group and acquired an initial sixty-acre tract of land. Since then, the Mianus River Gorge has grown into one of America’s most respected conservation organizations that protects over 1,000 acres. mianus.org
