Bond, James Bond, was the inspiration for the Avon Theatre Film Centers sixth annual gala at l'escale restaurant in the Delamar Greenwich Harbor Hotel. This year’s event celebrated fifty years of James Bond with custom decorated tables highlighting different locales from Bond films. The men were all in their sharpest penguin suits and the ladies came Oscar red-carpet ready. The highlight of the cocktail hour was the real life “Bond Girl” painted from head to toe in gold, donning only a bikini! Hugh Hildesley of Sotheby’s served as the fast-talking auctioneer, while the Alex Donner Orchestra played famous songs from Bond films. U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal presented the Avon Award to Thomas L. Rich. The F. D. Rich Company built the Avon Theatre in 1939. Tom Rich thanked Chuck and Deborah Royce for restoring the theater to its grandeur and for preserving such a special film house. avontheatre.org »
