On a sunny Wednesday in April, the Stamford Marriott opened its doors for the annual luncheon benefiting Planned Parenthood of Southern New England. The event honored Nancy and Hank Bartels with the 2013 Community Impact Award and health center volunteer Donna Zalichin with the Everyday Hero Award.

Inspiring speaker Cecile Richards, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, brought the audience of 515 to its feet with a standing ovation. Co-chaired by Erica Buchsbaum, Gina Modica, Donna Moffly, Nancie Schwarzman and Callie Sullivan—with honorary chairman Joan Tweedy—the luncheon netted over $311,000 to help PPSNE serve the needs of its 70,000 patients across Connecticut and Rhode Island. plannedparenthood.org
