Some 550 guests attended the Lyme Research Alliance’s Time for Lyme Gala at the Hyatt Regency in Greenwich, helping raise more than $1 million for research to improve and diagnosis, treatment, and find a cure for Lyme and other tick-borne diseases. Featured during the event were a live and silent auction and entertainment by the band, ETA.
Yolanda Foster, of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, and a chronic Lyme sufferer, received LRA’s Star Light Award. Drs. Steven Schutzer of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, and Mark Eshoo, director of new technology at Ibis Biosciences, received the Lauren F. Brooks Hope Award for making strides in research and treatment in the pursuit of a Lyme disease cure. In addition, Tommy Hilfiger, one of the evening’s honorary event chairs, took the stage to congratulate Thalia Mottola for creating a Spanish-language Lyme education website that provides access to crucial information about Lyme disease. lymeresearchalliance.org
