Mingling for Music

Friends and supporters of the Greenwich Symphony Orchestra recently gathered for a wine and cheese tasting party to benefit the orchestra’s thirty-first season of its popular Young People’s Concert series and to honor Ernestine Durrell, chair of the series. The Young People’s concerts are designed to introduce Greenwich schoolchildren to the symphony orchestra and the music of the great masters. Scott Mitchell hosted the event at Richards of Greenwich. Terry Rogers Matthews of Horseneck Wine & Liquor provided over eighty wines for tasting and donated a portion of the proceeds from the evening’s wine sales. Larry Spivack and his “Lucky 37” jazz quartet provided the festive background. Funds raised from the event will be used to fund the nine performances this season, presented without charge to Greenwich students in second through seventh grades.
