A good time was had by all when the Greenwich Symphony Orchestra hosted a festive gala at the Greenwich Country Club to benefit the symphony and its Young People’s Concerts. The event was a celebration of fifty-four years of an exceptional orchestra and outstanding soloists performing great classical music.
The evening began with cocktails and bidding on more than 100 silent–auction items followed by dinner and dancing to the music of Paul Lacano and the Cocktail Shakers. This year’s event recognized Greenwich philanthropist Joan Warburg, a longstanding supporter and member of the GSO Board of Directors.
The Young People’s Concerts program, attended free of charge by 6,000 Greenwich students over the years, has been praised by music educators and music critics as an outstanding community arts program. These concerts are designed to introduce children to the music of the great masters and the symphony orchestra.
The Greenwich Symphony, which presents five double concerts each year, is an eighty-five member professional orchestra led by David Gilbert. greenwichsym.org
