AmeriCares supporters gathered at the Aicon Gallery in New York City for a Celebration of Indian Art & Humanity, an art auction benefiting AmeriCares India aid programs. Celebrity auctioneer Aasif Mandvi from The Daily Show with Jon Stewart kept guests laughing as they bid on donated artwork by prominent Indian artists such as M.F. Husain and Owais Husain. Greenwich residents Blanca Hirani and Joan Thakor served as cochairs for the event.

AmeriCares India responds to emergency medical needs and supports long-term humanitarian assistance programs in India and throughout the region. Last year, the program delivered $1.4 million of free medical assistance in twenty Indian states, including free health care in the Mumbai slums and medical camps for disaster survivors. Since it was established in 1982, AmeriCares has distributed more than $10 billion in humanitarian aid to 164 countries. americares.org
