Editor's Note: The Best of Times

You can always tell when our Best of the Connecticut Gold Coast votes are being tabulated. Editors start circling, sales people start poking around, eager business owners start inquiring and our marketing department braces themselves for the phone calls they’ll need to make to each and every winner. Short of putting the list in a locked briefcase handcuffed to my arm, we try and stave off the masses until the winners are checked and rechecked.
This issue marks our sixth annual Best of the Connecticut Gold Coast issue. Though the process of counting all of the votes is still an arduous one, we’ve come a long way since our first issue. Imagine deciphering thousands of handwritten ballots covering more than 100 categories. (All I can say is thank God for interns). Now that the ballot is purely online, the process is slightly more streamlined (slightly). With categories like best bistro, best boutique and best pet spa, we cover a lot of ground throughout lower Fairfield County.
The one tough choice we have to make every year is selecting a cover subject from our list of winners. There are just too many well-qualified candidates. This year we selected Tengda Asian Bistro, winner of Best Asian Fusion and Best Sushi. Known for a booming bar scene and fabulous cuisine that keeps the dining room packed, the aptly named hotspot (Tengda means great future and prosperity) is the brainchild of Jimmy Zheng and brothers Jason and Andy Chen.
On Thursday, July 22, please join us at the Stamford Hilton for our Best of the Connecticut Gold Coast celebration. Hundreds of winners like Tengda will be in attendance serving up the very best of what they have to offer. Click here for tickets and information.
