4 spots to de-stress in Greenwich this holiday season

The holiday season is upon us! Although we love the festivity and tradition this time of year, we can’t help but tense up when thinking how are we to manage the carousel of holiday parties, the masses of shoppers and the daunting travel and entertaining, all while the days get shorter and shorter. It’s important to take time to re-charge and de-stress during this hectic season. But finding the time to unwind can be its own source of stress. So, we have round up four convenient places in Greenwich that can offer you relief from the “holidaze.”

Go to the beach

We know what you're thinking: in the winter?! If you think it’s weird to go to the beach in the off-season, you’re missing out. Greenwich Point offers a beautiful setting to take in nature and stretch your legs for a nice walk or jog. Just make sure to dress in layers and load up on insulating shirts from brands like Under Armour and you’re good to go. Not everyone considers winter the off-season for the beach. Dog owners count down the days until December 1st when they can bring their four legged friends with them to Greenwich Point. A loving dog, beautiful setting and crisp fresh air — it’s a sure way to let the stress fall away. Plus, there's bound to be way less people there than during on-season, so it's a good place for some "me time" to think and de-stress quietly.

Treat yourself to a facial

Sometimes beauty upkeep can get boring — the weekly manicures, monthly waxes, etc. It may start to feel less like a luxury and more like a chore. So the next time you go in for your wax (we like the Gold Coast favorite, Celia B. Skin Care) treat yourself to something extra. Celia’s “Pick Me Up” facial leaves skin looking amazing, without any redness or irritation so it is perfect for when you’re on the go. Antioxidants and gentle resurfacing nourish dry winter skin and Celia’s lovely face massage will melt away anxiety. Your fresh face will glow so you can take on Greenwich Avenue with confidence!

Hot Yoga

Extreme heat and crazy poses as stress relief? Hot yoga can sound intimidating and stress inducing but at the Yoga Center of Greenwich it’s anything but. The cozy studio is heated to a comforting 98.6 degrees that allows your body to stretch with greater freedom. All classes are led by the mother/daughter owners, Toni Goodrich and Heather Trzuskowski. This is de-stress yoga at its best. The poses are simple yet a real workout. The focus is on breath work with balancing — so you don’t have to worry about contorting yourself into a pretzel. Afterwards you’ll walk out blissfully warm and relaxed in body and mind.

Sweat, Steam and Spa

Having a bad case of the holidaze? You need to call in the trifecta: sweat, steam and spa. Get your fix at Equinox Greenwich. Not an Equinox member? No problem. If you book a spa service you’re a member for the day so you can take any classes you want. After your workout, grab a chilled eucalyptus towel to cool down. Then head to the locker room to detox and unwind in the steam room. Shower off with the complimentary Kiehl’s products and you’ll be primed for a massage to work out all those knots. The Equinox massage therapists really know how to give some TLC to your muscles.
