The Mahlstedt Gallery is proud to present Solstice Synergy, a group exhibition featuring paintings and sculptural works by artists working in the greater New York Tri-state area, including Eric Hibit, Osamu Kobayashi, Tang-Wei Hsu, Tom Costa, Tom Smith, and Vince Contarino.

In both modern and ancient cultures, solstices are acknowledged and celebrated in many ways and attributed with many meanings. The exhibition, Solstice Synergy conjures perceptions of time measured through notions of visual ambiance. The artworks in this exhibition depict varied interpretations of light, synergy, and the diurnal light cycle and connect with days becoming shorter and nights longer. As conveyed in Osamu Kobayashi's painting Hazy Block, the way in which an artist experiences shifts in the hours of day and night is acknowledged through profound observation of atmosphere.
