Grammy Award-winning ensemble Chanticleer is a cappella at its best, a seamless blend of male voices ranging from counter-tenor to contra-bass, a chance to rejoice in the magic and majesty of the human voice. The first vocal ensemble ever inducted into the American Classical Music Hall of Fame, Chanticleer takes audiences on a vocal journey from Renaissance to jazz to gospel and beyond. The complex and emotionally charged dialogue between the sexes is the subject of She Said/He Said. Godliness bestowed upon women (by men) is extolled in works by Andrea Gabrieli and Eric Whitacre. The bawdiest of Renaissance Madrigals, standards by Cole Porter and Ravel’s dramatic Trois chansons will revisit this age-old topic. She Said/He Said features the wide-ranging voices of Hildegard von Bingen, Barbara Strozzi, Stacy Garrop, Joni Mitchell and more. The program will conclude with new arrangements by several arrangers contributing fresh material to Chanticleer’s popular and jazz repertoire.
Tickets for 8pm reserved seating at $50 and $35 and pre-concert ‘Wine and taPASTRY’ dinner at 6 pm at $50 per seat. Order by calling (203) 637-3661 or by visiting www.stcath.org.
