Hop the red Culture Trolley, or better, walk the streets of Pelham, and experience ArtsFest 2013! September 28 and 29, the iconic red Culture Trolley will travel back and forth between Pelham and New Rochelle, stopping at key arts venues, and illuminating the best in arts and culture in both towns from 12:30-5PM.
This is the second year that ArtsFest, run by New Rochelle Council on the Arts and which attracts about 2,000 visitors, comes to Pelham; offering a weekend of free arts events that includes exhibits and performances with fine art and photography, dance, music, crafts and more. ArtsFest was enthusiastically supported by the Village Board when proposed by Pelham Art Center. Thanks to Community Sponsors Hooperstown and Homeowners-Senerchia-Bosco; Media Sponsor Pelham Weekly, and Supporter Sponsors Bistro Rollin and The Picture House, ArtsFest will once again make Pelham an arts destination.
Pelham Art Center will feature music and art all weekend long. Saturday an all-girls bluegrass band, Small Talk, will play from 2-3PM; followed by the American roots band, Cornell Brothers, from 4-5PM. On Sunday the popular Westchester Harp Ensemble, directed by Lois Colin, returns to the Pelham Art Center from 1-2PM, followed by the country trio King, from 3-4PM, and ending with Paul Ryan and Jim Greene playing acoustic guitar and upright bass from 4-5PM.
This year’s ArtsFest in Pelham features Open Studios at Highbrook Studios with artists John Mignault, Victoria Rolett, Kathy Rutsch and Scott Seaboldt. Nearby you will find a fascinating Pelham Highline information and display area. Don’t miss the ballet or opera film at The Picture House. Open Studios at Domenica Comfort Photograph Studio will highlight photos of Gallo Mattese by Domenica Comfort and ceramic art by Susan Nathenson. An exciting addition to ArtsFest 2013 will be artists showcasing and selling their works on Wolf’s Lane Green on Sunday. Many restaurants and businesses will offer specials and discounts to people enjoying ArtsFest. This year’s festival promises an array of culturally stimulating events geared toward various ages and interests all throughout New Rochelle and Pelham, with most of the sites offering free admission.
ArtsFest is the flagship event for NRCA, an organization devoted to inspiring community participation in the performing and fine arts for more than 30 years. Pelham Art Center has been collaborating with NRCA to bring this successful celebration of the arts to Pelham.
