The artist talk is free and open to the public.&nbsp\; Please join us on S
 aturday\, February 23\, 2013 at 5:30pm at The Drawing Room Art Gallery\, 5
  Suburban Avenue\, Cos Cob\, CT.</p>\n<p>\n	&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>\n	Darthea Cro
ss joins us from the greater Boston area.&nbsp\; She will be discussing he
r work as it relates to her time spent in nature.&nbsp\; Cross&rsquo\;s wo
rk reflects her continued exploration of the deep silence within nature\,
as well as within one&rsquo\;s self.&nbsp\; Her landscapes in particular e
xplore the spiritual as well as the physical journeys through nature and e
xamine close observations of roots and branches\, peaks and valleys\, crag
 s and crevices.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>\n	&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>\n	Cross lives an
d works outside of Boston in Maynard\, MA.&nbsp\; She graduated from both
 Boston University and the School of Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.&nbsp\;
Cross regularly exhibits her work across Massachusettes.&nbsp\; Noteworthy
showings include: The Copley Society of Art\, The Cahoon Museum of Americ
an Art\, and The Powers Gallery.&nbsp\; Cross&rsquo\;s paintings are also
included in the collections at the Charter Trust Company\, Fidelity Invest
 ments\, Meditech and Wellington Management Group.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>\n	&nbsp\
;</p>\n<p>\n	Local artist\, Jeremy Saladyga\, comes to the gallery from Ne
w Fairfield\, CT.&nbsp\; His photography work examines the relationship be
tween straight photographic depictions of nature and that which is non-rep
resentational or ambiguous to the eye. His work is full of metaphors and e
xplores the landscape in themes beyond just picturesque portraits.&nbsp\;<
/p>\n<p>\n	&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>\n	Saladyga has been a professional photographe
r since graduating in 1995 with a BFA from Parsons School of Design in New
York City.&nbsp\; Saladyga also holds a minor in Art Education.&nbsp\; As
ides from his artistic virtues\, Saladyga has worked as a commercial photo
grapher with featured work in <em>People Magazine\, In-Style\, Martha Stew
 art and Time Out NY.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; </em></p>\n<p>\n	&nbsp\;</p>\n<p
 >\n	Michele Kishita joins us from Philadelphia\, PA\, where she graduated
from The University of the Arts with both her BFA and MFA.&nbsp\; In addit
ion to her studies at The University of the Arts\, Kishita is an Adjunct A
ssistant Professor of Writing at the University.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>\n
&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>\n	Kishita&rsquo\;s most recent collection\, on display at
The Drawing Room Gallery\, is inspired by Milton Avery&rsquo\;s serene la
ndscapes and Katsushika Hokusai&rsquo\;s portrayals of water.&nbsp\; Layer
s upon layers\, Kishita builds up the canvas with interesting combinations
of acrylic paint\, latex\, silver and gold leaf\, paper and other mediums
collaged together to create visually stimulating depictions of the landsc
ape.&nbsp\; During her talk\, Kishita will reflect on her artwork and how
it relates to her experiences growing up in rural Pennsylvania and her tim
 e spent living abroad in Japan.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>\n	&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>\n	The D
