 ></p>\n<p>\n	Origami is the traditional Japanese art of paper folding\, wh
ich started in the 17th century AD at the latest and was popularized outsi
de of Japan in the mid-1900s. It has since then evolved into a modern art
form. The goal of this art is to transform a flat sheet of paper into a fi
nished sculpture through folding and sculpting techniques\, without the us
e of cutting or glue.</p>\n<p>\n	The number of basic origami folds is smal
l\, but they can be combined in a variety of ways to make intricate design
 s. The best known origami model is probably the Japanese paper crane. In g
eneral\, these designs begin with a square sheet of paper whose sides may
be different colors or prints.</p>\n<p>\n	The downtown Fairfield Universit
y Bookstore has a wide variety of books on Origami. The Joy of Origami by
Margaret Van Sicklen\, Flower Origami by Joost Langeveld\, The Art and Won
der of Origami by Kunihiko Kasahara\, The New Encyclopedia of Origami & Pa
percraft Techniques by Ayako Brodek\, Origami Magic: Amazing Paper Folding
